Hi Guys, I live in France on the Mediterranean coast and I got a great 11,3 SUP for my birthday 3 weeks ago. I'm beginning to catch waves, cut backs etc and I also have a great time cross training when there aren't any waves (it happens most of the time here in the med). Anyway, I go off for 30mins – 1 hour sessions but a few hours after, I get really painful backache (lumbar pain). Am I doing something wrong when paddling? I'm 1,54m tall and my paddle is 1,74m high. G-day, i was lucky enough to travel to Noosa for the GSI surf fest and wanted to thank everyone for making our visit so great. We surfed and SUPed twice a day (usually daybreak and mid-afternoon) Typically we were at 'Little Cove' but made it out as far as 'Granite'. Hi Helly, I'm in a similar situation to you…I live in Melbourne and am looking to start out in this sport that looks like loads of fun. I did some research and found that you can get those Gift/Experience Packages for SUP. The site I found it on was www.bcl.com.au/melbourne/active/surfing.htm It doesn't say who the provider is, but it does say that lessons are held on St Kilda Beach, which would be handy for you living in Port Melbourne. Hi, I've just had my first lesson on a paddle board and now I need to get one. I used a Laird 11'6 at the start of the lesson and a Naish 10'6 at the end. I much preferred the Naish. I'll mostly be using the board for surf or costal water, has anybody out there tried the 9'6 or 10' Paddle Surf Hawaii boards. I'm only 75kg and I am an OK Longboard surfer who gets out for at least an hour a day, so I do not want to get a board that I'll need to change in 3-4 months. Any thoughts?… [Link]

Stand Up Paddle Surfing made its presence known in the Byron region July 1 when SUPS founder Chris De Aboitiz, the Laguna Bay Surfboards team and shaper Phil Myers joined Sput Keevers of Byron Longboards for a demonstration in the Ballina River.
Earlier in the winter the SUPS and LB teams made it down to the big smoke of Sydney to perform demonstrations and workshops at Bondi Beach and Narrabeen Lakes. Former world champion surfer Tom Carroll joined the Narrabeen session and showed that he too has been infected by the SUPS bug. [Link]

SUPS boss Chris de Aboitiz, Woogy and friends are planning a marathon stand up paddle around the world’s largest sand island, Fraser Island. No stranger to long paddles, Chris has paddled around the island of Nusa Lembongan in Bali, and is currently doing time trials on the Noosa River. Standup Paddle Surfing Australia has its first family demo day coming up on SUNDAY the 11th November between 7-9am. A range of Naish, GSI, Laguna Bay, Surftech and other boards will be available to try as well as a range of paddles and other accesories. These days are free for everyone and we encourage those interested in SUPS to try out the boards, get other family members involved and even get the pooch onto a board. Bring something to put on the BBQ as we will be having some breakfast as well. Some sausages will be provided. The location will be Noosa Lions Park just behind Hastings St. Be sure to keep an eye out for the SUPS van. The whole family is welcome including the kids and don't forget to bring along the dogs!
