The Kialoa Shaka Pu’u is a sweet paddle. I saw a bunch of them in the Makaha Makahiki and there was Mel Pu’u himself with a pink paddle and pink board. You may snicker until you see that Mel is 250 lbs and could crush your skull with one hand. The paddle looked small compared […]

It’s pretty amazing to me how many paddle options there are now. Along with the stock paddles, I’ve been tinkering with shapes and sizes I like. Here’s what I have currently. I also have some Leleo Kinimaka wood paddles but those are with other people currently.

I got 2 Infinity Surf ottertail paddles for my birthday in November and so far have only been able to test it a number of conditions. At first I was leery of this paddle but I have since changed my mind. This is what I’ve been using for the last few weeks.

When I got the Infinity Quad I was trying to figure out what fin setup to use and what the difference would be. Here’s a Q&A with Steve Boehne from Infinity Surf with those answers. The Quad Cluster has five fin boxes. What are the suggested fin setups and what difference will it make in […]

I got an Infinity Surf custom quad for my birthday in November and so far have only been able to test it in small surf. I’ve been playing around with the fin configuration since there are 5 fin boxes and this board rocks!

Steve Boehne talks to us about the Infinity Surf’s ottertail blade stand up paddle. Steve explains that these type of blades are easier to use than the regular square-shaped blades and does not compromise power — something that is ideal for older folks who may be experiencing chronic body aches and pains. The paddle shaft […]

If you saw the post a while back for the stealth C4 Waterman stand up racing board you’ll notice the resemblance to the Vortice XP. Basically, that was the Vortice XP. I got a sneak peek and demo on Wednesday with Todd Bradley from C4. I’ve got 2 words for this board – Super Fast.

When I visited Steve Boehne at Infinity Surf in Dana Point, California, I got a chance to see some interesting air vents that he installs in his custom epoxy boards. I got a short video of Steve explaining the vent to a customer, some inside info and shot some pictures up close. These are the […]

I found a new use for the 2 small leash plugs on the C4 Waterman stand up paddle surfboards. They were designed initially to have the velcro attach around a paddle and use as a handle but I need stronger velcro for when the wind picks up. I also don’t like carrying the board that […]

Since I missed the stand up paddle surf division finals in the HASA surf contest at Queen’s Beach in Waikiki, Oahu, I paddled out past the break where I saw a bunch of stand up paddle surfers. It was a great day for first timers and it just brought back memories of my first attempt […]

I picked up an Angulo 11’9″ a week or so ago and wanted to test it as a big all around stand up paddle surfboard. Jim at Tropical Blends Surf did a super nice job of customizing the deck pads. You can see that there is a tail pad, deck pad and nose pad. This […]
