Some of you may know about the recent acquisition of parts of SIC by Flow Sports. I wanted to find out more info on how this affects SIC. I caught up with Mark Raaphorst in a quick Q&A.

The S.I.C. X-12 flatwater SUP race board is now available in two widths, 28″ and 29 1/2″. Both board models are virtually the same except for the widths as Mark Raaphorst explains in the video below.
2012 YEAR-END SPECIALS 2012 was another good year for SIC. Flow Sports, a successful and innovative snowboard company, picked up and is now the parent company taking the SIC brand global. This move has allowed Mark, Andres and Amir more time to explore new possibilities in SUP surf and flat water designs as well as […]
Here again is S.I.C.’s Mark Raaphorst with a fixed fin variant of the Bullet 14′ SUP race board. This is for the guys who want to race in fixed fin SUP divisions. The board is also a few hundred dollars less than the Bullet 14′ with the full steering system.
As I was leaving the finish, I ran into Scott Trudon who gave me some insight into his race experience at the 2012 Molokai 2 Oahu Paddleboard Championships. Scott competed in the SUP 3-man division with teammates Mark Raaphorst and Junya McGurn. Mark is the mind and energy behind the SIC brand of race boards […]
I caught up with Dave Kalama at the 2012 Molokai 2 Oahu Paddleboard Championships. Dave was the SUP unlimited division runner up to Connor Baxter by 30 seconds. They battled back and forth the entire 30 something miles and it came down to the absolute finish where Connor won by a hundred yards or so.

Mark Raaphorst just sent over these videos of the SIC race boards and the evolution of SUP race board design. The first video was produced by Mike Waltze who did the SUP documentary we reviewed last year. He did a great job with this video. This is one of the most professional looking SUP videos […]
Here is Mark Raaphorst from Sandwich Island Composites (SIC) with a new prototype 9’4″ SUP stand up paddle surfboard. The board is expected to be available by the end of summer, 2012. This is a short board type SUP designed to be fast. Being that it’s a SIC, that shouldn’t be a problem.
Here is the latest SUP race board from S.I.C., the Bullet 17’4″ version 2. Late in 2011 Mark told me he wasn’t expecting to improve the Bullet 17 much for 2012 but I guess he changed his mind.
Here are some pictures that I took during the launch party of the 2012 Quiksilver Waikiki Paddle Festival. George Kam hosted the Friday night launch party which is the best party of the year.
Here’s a short video of Mark Raaphorst and young Mo Freitas riding the S.I.C. Bullet 12′ SUP race board on some waist to chest high waves at Turtle Bay North Shore Oahu. The second clip with Mo in the video shows him catching the wave on the outside break and riding it all the way […]
Here are some more pictures from the 2011 North Shore Challenge. These ones are from the distance race on day 2. The start was late and I was on a time schedule. The launch was from the Kawela Bay side of Turtle Bay and finish was at Haleiwa. Since the race started late, I had […]
I caught up with Mark Raaphorst to show off some of the new SUP race boards for S.I.C.’s 2012 line.
