Nicole Pacelli is your 2014 Turtle Bay Women’s Pro Champion! Sunshine, good waves, and a deep field of the world’s finest female SUP surfers were on hand today as we entered the final day of the 2014 Turtle Bay Women’s Pro at Turtle Bay Resort on the north shore of Oahu in Hawaii. Light trade […]

Day 1 is in The Books! Stormy conditions have been covering the North Shore for most of the previous week. This morning saw the conditions improving as the wind began to settle down and the waves cleaned up to provide consistent 5-7 foot faces at the “Pool Bars” break at Turtle Bay Resort.

The last week brought us some huge waves to the North Shore and some crazy weather. I saw some crazy wipeouts from surfers which reminded me of trying to surf a 12’6″ SUP race board in double overhead waves. I thought I’d post these photos are from last year’s Turtle Bay Challenge surf race. The […]

After riding the recon for a number of sessions on different conditions I realize that this board is really good for any rider over 200 pounds that wants a board that can turn on a dime. The quad fin set up is actually really comfortable now for me and if the conditions are nice and […]

This is written by Darin Leong (http://www.hawaiiguitar.com/), my brother and a local attorney in Hawaii. I’ve been giving the Blue Planet Surf Fun Stick a try for the past few days. Stable, surfs well, glides, and makes for a great “if-you-could-only-have-one-SUP” board. I’ve posted a few pics and a GoPro vid, so feel free to […]

I’ve been meaning to try out the SIC Recon 10 SUP after I saw the pictures of Livio surfing it and talked to Mark Raaphorst about how the board would perform on the South Shore of Oahu so I recently picked one up. The S.I.C. Recon-10 stand up paddle surfing board pretty much looks and […]

This is written by Darin Leong (http://www.hawaiiguitar.com/), my brother and a local attorney in Hawaii. I’ve now ridden 10-15 different boards and can summarize the Sweet Spot simply: I love this board. It does a little of everything, but most of all, it was just a lot of fun.

The second day of the 2013 Stand Up World Series Finals at Turtle Bay was pretty crazy. The sprint races on day 2 were in north shore waves up to double overhead and pitching hard. I’m surprised that no one was badly injured. In retrospect, some of the racers probably would have been better off […]

Here are some photos I took from day 1 of the 2013 Stand Up World Series Finals distance race that started at Turtle Bay and ended at Ali’i Beach Park in Haleiwa. The race started off with no wind but it picked up a little bit during the race. It still looked like a lot […]

When Mark Raaphorst first told me about the SIC Standamaran in 2010, I knew I had to try it out so I flew from Oahu to Maui and got a chance to test the first version on a South Shore Kihei downwinder. The Kihei downwind conditions were amazing. It was like the best Hawaii Kai […]

I recently did a demo of the Blue Planet 9’0″ x 29″ “Rockn’ Roller” stand up paddle surfboard. The board is able to float a rider up to 220 lbs but the caveat is that if you’re over 200 lbs your balance needs to be really good, especially if your conditions are choppy.
