Downwind Bump Catching Video Game

Share/Bookmark

I was talking to my friend Jason tonight and trying to explain over the phone how to catch bumps on a downwind run. This game at ocpaddler.com is a very good tool to understand the timing needed. It may not make you a pro but it will give you the idea of how to catch bumps.

Check the game out here http://www.ocpaddler.com/game and let us know if it helps.

Jason just sent me a sms to let me know this link for the game is not working. Not sure why because it worked earlier. Try this cached link from google

We used to play that game all the time when Keizo first produced it. So fun. We played until we could not beat our score anymore. It is good for learning downwind. Like learning the momentum of using one bump to drop into the next and the next. Also to see that the boat is like a seesaw and you need to get the nose down to run with the bumps but not too far down so you pearl.

D – I suck at this game but it really does help people to visually see how different it is catching a bump and staying in the trough vs catching the peak of a wave. It’s working properly now…computer glitch over the weekend.
