The plug is there to release pressure from inside of the board if the temperature increases on it- say if you leave it out in the sun (Charles Law). Or if the pressure decreases, say if you take it to the top of Mount Everest (Boyle's Law).

sam…yeah, i kinda came to that conclusion too. Smiley but yes Teene is absolutely wonderful, that was his paddle i was using too. first time i ever raced with a real paddle. that was awesome. lol.

Do you know if the listed weights are accurate, Adrian? Hopefully it's diferent with SUBs, but many kayak makers, for example, have a habit of underreporting weights by a significant margin. My last two kayaks were off by 12 pounds each. Sad

The only place around here that even has a selection of boards is Sandy Point up in Daytona Beach. They carry, Kona, Jimmy lewis, Lairds, SOS and Oxbows. Not sure what is in demo/rental though.

A little over a year ago, I was riding a PSH 9'2 with MR Twins in a super twin setup (with a 3 inch trailer). It worked unreal for getting moving in smaller softer waves. Here is the thread with some pics:
