but I am reaching pretty far forward
I started the technique series with the power phase as this is where I saw the quickest improvements when coaching. All the phases of the stroke have to work together smoothly for the stroke to be efficient and without good reach and catch, the stroke won’t be effective. Back in October 2010, Luke Evslin got into a really bad accident during the Molokai to Oahu 6 man canoe race. It happened at the beginning of the race and the escort boat’s propeller ran him over during the paddler change. I visited him recently at the Kamanu Composites factory and I’m glad to report the he’s recovering very well.

Here are some “in-action” pictures of the Surftech 10′6″ Blacktip stand up paddle board. The Blacktip is a great all-around, family board and the kids absolutely love it. This is the next generation version of the original 9′0 Blacktip which was also a fun board but the main difference is that the 10′6″ can actually catch waves. For this version, Surftech made it longer and a bit more narrow. The board is still very stable.
