2nd Annual NAC Hovie SUP Festival in Newport Harbor CA, April 9th, 2011

It’s with great excitement that we announce the 2nd Annual NAC Hovie SUP Festival. Newport Harbor’s largest Stand Up Paddle (SUP) competition will be held April 9th, 2011 at the Newport Aquatic Center.

The NAC Hovie SUP Festival Race is a benefit for the “NAC Youth Waterman’s Academy” proceeds will be directed to NAC foundation.

The NAC Hovie SUP Festival Race event includes competition with races of “Elite 6 mile Race” and Open short-course 4.0 mile, Kids Race, Pouch & Paddle and more. The 2010 race attracted 160 competitors and hundreds of spectators. Sanctioned by the WPA and Sponsored by Stand Up Paddle Magazine.

The Event will consist of two races with the combining of the two race times for the end result.

Open race 3.75 mile distance + 1/2 mile sprint race – entry fee 30.00

Men – Ages: 17-35, 36 – 49, 50+
Stock – 12′6″ – 14′ – Unlimited – juniors (16 and under) on a Stock (12′6″) only

Women – Ages: 17-35, 36 – 49, 50+
Stock – 12′6″ – 14′ – Unlimited – juniors (16 and under) on a Stock (12′6″) only

Elite Race 5.75 mile distance + 1 mile Sprint- entry fee 40.00
Men’s – Stock – 12′6″ – 14′ – Unlimited
Women’s – Stock – 12′6″ – 14′ – Unlimited

Elite race course racers must be a WPA member to earn WPA points for the 2011 WPA U.S. Race Series.

SUP & PUP race – Kids Race – sign up at event

We encourage you to sign up online, but pay at race day check in. Beach check in will start at 8AM. First race starts at 10AM.

Minimum Participants to Support a Class

Trophy- A minimum of 3 participants is needed to make a class in any division to trophy.
Ranking- A minimum of 5 participants is needed in any division to receive ranking points.
5 participants is needed in any division to receive WPA ranking points
$10 discount off entry fees for all WPA members. Elite Class racers

All racers get race tee shirt, swag bag, and racers buffet and other goodies… Don’t forget to buy raffle tickets.
