Huntington Beach to provide a showcase of the cutting edge of Stand Up Paddling

The Huntington Beach Pro Grand Slam presented by Starboard will take over Huntington Beach next week with a dramatic showcase for the Sport of Stand Up Paddling:

From World Tour Surfing to World Series Racing, and from youth and open competition, to Elite competition featuring a $45,000 prize-purse, Surf City USA will provide the unique venue for this historic event, as the World’s best prepare for Stop 4 of the Stand up World Surfing Tour & Racing Series.

World Tour Surfing to pick up again as the Title Race will intensify at Stop 4 in HB

We are now past the midpoint of the year for the Stand Up World Tour as the Title Race intensifies coming into Stop 4 here at Huntington Beach.

It will all start on Tuesday 16th as we go live with the Open Trials event from 8am, as up and coming athletes and hopefuls will be battling it out for the 8 remaining spots in the main event. With a building swell kicking in on Tuesday, the conditions should be primed for a battle of epic proportions, as athletes from all over the world fight for the last remaining spots in this prestigious 4th stop on Tour.

The Main event will then get underway on Wednesday, with both Men’s and Women’s competition that will take place in a pulsing swell generated by a storm deep in the south Pacific. Expect mind blowing action, as the World’s best take on Surf City USA for a spectacle like no other.

The Men’s division will feature some hard fought battles, as the World’s best will be vying for Title contention, while the local favorites will be looking for glory on their home turf.

Meanwhile in the ever intensifying women’s division, the battle is on for the World Title as the world’s nations converge for a dramatic competitive showcase just south of the Pier in Huntington Beach.

It all then ends with the Na Kama Kai Youth event for U16 and a unique Nation’s Team event on Sunday 21st September, as All Star Teams will battle it out for glory at Huntington Beach.

The Stand Up World Series primed to set a new standard for racing in Surf City USA

The Stand up World Series has seem some epic racing this year, with stand out events in Brazil, Abu Dhabi and Germany, not to mention the World Challenger Series and the European Cup that has seen dramatic action from Asia to Europe.

Huntington Beach will provide the ideal venue for some of the most exciting racing of the year, as the World’s best will take to the water again for Stop #4 of the 2014 Stand Up World Series.

However, with a 3km race on Saturday open to all, as well as a 6km version of the Pro long distance on Sunday, as well as the impressive World Series sprints through the surf, this stop will provide a very complete and exciting weekend of racing for athletes, spectators on site and on the live web broadcast.

In the Men’s pro division, the familiar battle between Kai Lenny (Naish) and Connor Baxter (Starboard) continues, with Connor having the edge coming into Huntington, but right behind them, there is a stacked field of local and international athletes stepping up to do battle.

While in the women’s division, it is a similar story, as new faces join World Series stalwarts for a dramatic showcase of performance racing here on the Stand Up World Series.

The World Series Racing will take place on Saturday 20th (3km open and World Series Sprints) and Sunday 21st September (6km open and World Series Long Distance). All course maps for long distance and Spring racing will go live tomorrow at www.watermanleague.com, so stay tuned.

Opening Night at Tommy Bahama’s in Newport Beach to be broadcast LIVE

The ‘Opening Night’ of the Huntington Beach Pro Grand Slam will be hosted by Tommy Bahama’s in Newport Beach, with a Talk Story event presented by Turtle Bay that will be broadcast LIVE at www.watermanleague.com from 7:00pm.

This Talk Story event will feature the current ratings leaders and principal contenders on the World Tour and be hosted by the Waterman League’s Tristan Boxford and California’s very own, Dave Boehne.

Doors will open at 6pm for this prestigious night that will open the event in style and welcome the World’s best to Huntington Beach for a night to remember.
