The elite division contained an incredible pool of talented paddlers from around the world racing on a closed-course with 126 biards in extremely challenging conditions with winds gusting up to 25mph. Team “Love” Wins Inaugural Surftech Women’s SUP Challenge
Team “Love”, the three member SUP team of Leah Dawson, Bianca Valenti and Geodee Clark swept the competition in Surftech’s inaugural Women’s SUP Challenge held in conjunction with the ROXY Jam Cardiff. The relay style event featured a unique format that awarded team points based both on paddling speed as well as surf skills. Each team member was required to charge the shorebreak and paddle around an offshore buoy before riding a wave and passing the board and paddle to their fellow team member. Surftech to hold one of a kind Women’s stand up paddle/surf challenge
Surftech is holding their inaugural Women’s SUP challenge this weekend in conjunction with the 2008 ROXY Jam Cardiff. The event takes a unique approach to the sport of SUP and will offer fun for both competitors and spectators alike. “Open to competitors, general surfers and stand up paddle surfers”, Comments Sander Nauenberg, Marketing Manager at Surftech “the challenge is meant to be a fun, team focused relay that showcases the versatility of both the sport and the respective surfers approaches.”

Werner Expands Stand Up Paddle Offerings
Werner Paddles has announced the introduction of two new Stand Up Paddles: The Werner Advantage and the Werner Carve. Both paddles will be available to ship beginning September 01, 2008.
As participation explodes in the Stand Up Paddle category, Werner is responding with new paddle designs that focus on the two aspects of the sport, touring and surfing.
Surftech Opens Showroom in Hawaii
Surftech officially opened their Hawaii Showroom Friday August 15th at their new location in downtown Honolulu. In celebration of the inaugural venture, Surftech held a Private VIP Party for its Hawaiian retail partners, local industry and friends and family made up of many of the local surfers and shapers. Kicking off with a traditional Hawaiian ceremony including a blessing from Pohaku Stone, a kava ceremony and a contemporary champagne toast, the 250-330 attendees came from throughout the state. On Saturday, following Fridays’ party was the official public opening. Held in conjunction with the annual Duke Festival the opening included celebratory TL2 surfboards painted by local keikis as well as Hawaiian artists. The finished boards will be displayed at the local Outrigger hotels and Boardriders clubs.
