Here’s a video from a previous Surftech Jay Moriarty Memorial Paddleboard Race in Monterey Bay. Looks like a lot of fun.

Things are looking great for The 2008 Surftech Jay Moriarty Memorial Paddleboard Race to be held this Saturday June 21st. Kicking off at 8:00 am at New Brighton Beach in Santa Cruz, a forecast of sunny conditions along with small ground swell should offer incredible conditions to what is expected to be the largest group ever participating in the race! This year’s event marks the 7th year that the “Jay Race” has run in the beautiful Monterey bay. Race directors expect top paddlers from California, Florida and even Australia to compete in this Saturday’s event. In addition to the large range of prone paddle competitors, there is a number of stand up paddlers registered and many more expected come race day. Many competitors are for the first time facing decisions as to in what category they want to compete!
Regardless, the surge in popularity of stand up paddling will be visibly apparent at this year’s event.

QuikSilver Edition and ROXY are generously rewarding prize purse for both men’s and women’s top prone paddlers as well as coveted entries into their famous Molokai to Oahu paddle race. Additionally, all competitors are provided jerseys, goody bags and a complimentary lunch on the beach, post event. Always a great event to participate in or just to come down and support some of the most respected waterman and women in the world. Find out more information or register at:
