World Series Finals to reaffirm Hawaii’s stature as the ultimate proving ground

In the surfing World, Hawaii has always been an equalizer, the place where reputations are made, Champions are crowned and mother nature rules supreme providing the ultimate proving ground for the world’s very best athletes.

In Stand Up Paddling, the same has become the case, with the legacy of the Sunset Beach Pro for the World Tour of Surfing in February now well established and in October, the season closer in the form of the World Series Finals at Turtle Bay, where the World’s best step up to face the most complete challenges of the year, battling it out not only for the World Championship Crown, but the glory here on Oahu’s Fabled North Shore.

Boasting two of the most radical and impressive courses of the year, the World Series Finals at Turtle Bay draws on every skill set, from downwind runs, to open ocean swell, to flat water, to punching through surf and last but not least, surfing itself. The World Series Finals has it all and has proved itself as the most spectacular event of the year and the ultimate close to the season.

2014 World Series Finals Long distance to provide the most dramatic racing yet

2014 promises to be the most spectacular yet, as we anticipate large swell for the weekend, with the long distance race set to see the biggest surf, as athletes will pass by the iconic surfbreaks such as Sunset, Pipeline and Waimea firing on cylinders, as they make their way down the 13 mile course from Turtle Bay to Haleiwa.

Should the swell be too big in the bay at Turtle Bay, we will shoot for an offshore start to make sure that everybody has an equal chance and the best possible race is secured.

The finish will be in the calm waters in front of Surf/n Sea, so surfing around Puena Point will see serious strategy come into play, but the run to the finish will be an uninterrupted clean sprint to the line.

We will be streaming LIVE from 12pm on Saturday, as we undertake a ground breaking live production, bringing you the blow by blow from boat with commentary on boar and on shore as the athletes undertake what will be a historic long distance race this year and performance Stand up Paddle Racing goes to the next level.

World Series Sprints in front of Turtle Bay to provide unparalleled sporting spectacle

The World Series Finals at Turtle Bay presented by Naish has long been a favorite for its spectator experience, due to the non stop action and unparalleled viewing platform that Turtle Bay provides.

Last year saw the most dramatic finish imagineable in the Final of the World Series sprint racing, as the World watched on to see Kai Lenny (Naish) wipeout, but then hold it together to secure the 2013 World Championship crown.

This year, the conditions are going to be even more intense and the racing equally so, as although Maui’s Connor Baxter (Starboard) has already secured the coveted World Title for the year, it is still all on the line here in Turtle Bay as he will be looking to finish the season on a high, at home here in Hawaii.

Meanwhile Kai Lenny (Naish) will be looking for a strong comeback in this final event, and Australia’s Jake Jensen (Fanatic) who is on a roll will be looking to repeat his 2013 Finals win, a prestigious accolade with which to end the year.

In the women, it will be an intense affair, as Current #1 Lina Augaitis and Angie Jackson (Fanatic) will battle it out for the Title here in Hawaii, but will also be taking on a host of international talent, all looking to make a name for themselves here on Oahu’s fabled North Shore.

Make sure to join us LIVE from Turtle Bay for this exciting day of action as we go live from 12pm on Sunday for the World Series Sprints at www.watermanleague.com
