Outdoor Retailer Expo – Surftech Gear

Share/Bookmark

Sander from Surftech sent over these pics from the Outdoor Retailer Expo and demo day. I spoke with Joe Bark the other day and he was thrilled at the response from everyone. All in all, I hear it was a lot of fun and more proof that stand up paddling is here to stay. I wish I was there to try all the new stuff.

Pics of the Surftech booth at the show. Notice the 14’ red Joe Bark board in the back. I haven’t been able to get much info yet about the availability but I got some info from Joe and will post that when it’s ready. Is it just me or are those 2 people just about to make out under the Surftech sign?

Here’s info I got on the paddles –

  • Paddle 1: The San’0:
Offering a tear drop blade with a slightly wider outline ( 9” max width at the tip ) the San O is suited for aggressive paddlers racing over flatwater or charging powerful surf. A tapering spine smoothly flow into the wider blade surface providing a stiffer structure and diverting the flow as the blade cuts through the water.
*Designed to be cut down to appropriate length
  • Paddle 2: The Nautical:
The Nautical blade widens to a max width of only 8’5” inches This width is retained through the tip. The result is a slightly thinner blade than the San’O but retaining a similar surface area. This design offers paddlers a consistent stroke that is suited to a consistent stroke in flatwater. A tapering spine smoothly flow into the wider blade surface providing a stiffer structure and diverting the flow as the blade cuts through the water.
*Designed to be cut down to appropriate length
  • Material/Construction Options (both)
    • Fiberglass: All fiberglass epoxy shaft, handle and blade offers quality strength, stiffness and durability. The Blade is laminated around a high density foam part to create a light, stiff blade that retains our ergonomic design
    • Carbon/fiberglass composite. All 3 elements of the paddle use a composite of both fiberglass and carbon fiber to add additional stiffness and strength without increasing overall weight. The Blade is laminated around a high density foam part to create a light, stiff blade that retains our ergonomic design
    • 100% Carbon. Our premier construction offers the pinnacle of strength and stiffness and additionally is the lightest paddle design in our line. Unidirectional carbon offers added stiffness and durability to the blade which is lined along edges impact protection . Shaft is filament wound carbon fiber insuring a symmetrical (round) and consistent flex pattern
  • Paddle 3: The Venture:
For purely recreational use, the Venture is a safe and secure choice. The Aluminum shaft and Plastic handle and blade retain a premium blade design including a tapering spine for stiffness, an offset blade angle and a significant blade surface that offers solid thrust with each stroke. Offered in 4 lengths to insure an ergonomically correct length is available to all paddlers.
