I caught up with Scott Gamble during the 2012 Quiksilver Waikiki Paddle Festival. This was right after Scott became the overall winner of the Hawaii Kai Run, SUP unlimited men’s division. He shared some SUP racing perspectives with me. Video below.

Here’s an interview I did with George Kam, organizer of the 2012 Quiksilver Waikiki Paddle Festival. George is truly an Ambassador of Aloha and he throws an awesome party. If you ever get a chance to go to a party that George hosts, you should go. The food will be awesome and everyone will have […]

From the looks of the trailer, this is going to be a SUP movie worth seeing. I should be seeing it soon and when I do, I’ll post a review. In the meantime, here’s an interview with Mike Waltze, the producer of “That First Glide“.

I shot these videos of Connor Baxter after he won the 2011 Duke’s Oceanfest Distance Race. Connor also won the surf race the day before and is on a pretty strong winning streak. Robert Stehlik did well too and had a great idea to interview Connor away from the crowd to get more in depth […]

Here is an interview with Starboard rider Tama Audibert sent to us by Margareta, Starboard’s marketing manager. Local Tahitian and Starboard rider, Tama Audibert, snatched 2nd place in arguably the world’s largest SUP surf event. Tama’s smooth style and paddlework, along with big hits on the west bowl took him from an unknown rider to […]

Back in October 2010, Luke Evslin got into a really bad accident during the Molokai to Oahu 6 man canoe race. It happened at the beginning of the race and the escort boat’s propeller ran him over during the paddler change. I visited him recently at the Kamanu Composites factory and I’m glad to report […]

Here are some interviews I filmed during the 2010 Battle of the Paddle Hawaii. I know these are pretty late but they’re well worth sharing.

I was walking by the live interviews at the Hawaii Battle of the Paddle 2010 when I saw Kaipo Guerrero interviewing Todd Bradley from C4. They were reminiscing about the early days of stand up paddling. I thought I’d video the interview too and here it is:

This is the 2nd installment of my interview with Starboard’s Svein Rasmussen and Margareta Engström at the Starboard HQ. Svein showed me an 8½’ X 30″ Sport Tech board used by Ekolu Kalama using wood technology. You can see the pine wood portions of the board’s outer shell which adds rigidity and lightness to the […]

My short trip to Thailand to check out the biggest windsurfing company, Starboard, was quite an experience. I was able to interview Starboard’s founder and 4-time windsurfing world champion, Svein Rasmussen. Svein talked about Starboard beginnings and how it has become what it is now. It’s pretty amazing how his “40-year-cycle” theory on board design […]
