March 26th-28th, 2010
You are invited to the 24th Annual Santa Cruz Paddle Surf Festival scheduled to perform its majesty on March 26th-28th. It will attract the best kayak surfers in new surf vehicles designed specifically for this event from all over the globe. This event is touted to be the largest and most celebrated contest running in the world. This is where this new and exciting environmental sport showcases its designs and athletic prowess. This event will also provide points to help choose the next US West Team to compete in the 2011 World Championships hosted by the east coast.
World-renowned Steamer Lane point break in Santa Cruz will be the competition zone for all events during the March 26th-28th festival weekend. Manufacturers will have display booths to provide contestants and spectators opportunities to see and touch the hottest new kayaks and gear from a variety of manufacturers. We will have some new and exciting events this year in Stand-up Paddling for Novices and Elite Surfers and an event envisioned by Galen Licht, a College Team Surf Challenge, to bring new surfers into the fold. We are also inviting the white water athlete to play in the Plastic Pro event.
The SCKSF is two contests in one. We have an expert event at the Steamer Lane Site that can produce epic wave heights, while at the same time a ¼ mile away we can have gentle 3-5 foot swells for Novice and Intermediate events at the Cowells Site. Expert Classes are a three day event, final heats on Sunday. Novice and Intermediate Classes are held as a double round robin format surfing both Saturday and Sunday. We will be hosting free surf kayak clinics before the event, contact Galen at email@example.com.
General applications will be accepted on January 15th to March 7th through mail (e-mail online or Snail) or Active.com.
