Mitchell, Appleby and Trout to paddle the SEA Paddle NYC event this Friday to raise funds for Autism

August 10, 2010 (New York, NY) Surftech team riders, Jamie Mitchell, Candice Appleby and Slater Trout will be in New York City this week to participate in the 4th Annual Surfers Environmental Alliance SEA Paddle NYC around Manhattan. The 28-mile paddle/race around New York City is a fund-raising event to benefit autism awareness and research groups, such as Autism Family Services of New Jersey, Autism Speaks and Surfers Healing, a volunteer group that facilitates surfing adventures for autistic children. Sea Paddle NYC is hosted by environmental advocacy group Surfers’ Environmental Alliance.

Ocean Canoe Paddling Championships rock Oahu. An incredible weekend of OC paddling with two back-to-back Championship Regattas hosted by the Hui Wa’a and Oahu Hawaiian Canoe Racing Association. The regattas are purely awesome events with thousands in attendance- not only competing in sport, but perpetuating tradition, culture and sharing much ALOHA. Six person crews hammer all out in anaerobic threshold effort during in sprint distance races ALL DAY long. Planet Sun enthusiastically on site at each event, offering suncare to all in Extreme UV Index conditions… PS pump sunscreen and Personal SunShelter UV Brellas dotted the lagoon.

Supported by Ron House and Gerry Lopez boards and presented by O’Neill, this event witnessed some of the most high performance stand up paddle surfing to date by the athletes of the Stand Up World Tour, as well as the emergence of some serious local French threats, challenging the strong Hawaiian presence on Tour and demonstrating that France’s stature as a capital of European surfing is well deserved.

30 teams worth of volleyballers in simultaneous play, on 7 grass courts under happy Hawaiian sun. A performance suncare companies idea of a great day and the site of the 1st Annual Lanikai Invitational Volleyball Tournament. A great day indeed… some of most competitive in the sport turned out, impressing kids of all ages with perpetual plyometric play. HONOLULU (July 6, 2010) — The Molokai2Oahu World Championships of Paddleboarding, long considered to be the most prestigious paddleboard race in the world, has for the first time in its 14 year history sold out. With over 140 entries, this is the largest field in the history of the event and the first time the race has sold out, illustrating record international participation with particular growth in stand-up paddleboard (SUP) racing. Entries of both team and solo paddleboarders have signed up to tackle the formidable 32-mile Ka’iwi Channel that separates the islands of Molokai and Oahu, Hawaii.
