Tropical Blends

Hello Everyone,

Although the waves have been less than stellar, we’ve been blessed with some pretty amazing weather this past week. People were still eager to get in the water and it was apparent every time I went down to Ala Moana Beach Park with customers for a quick demo session. It’s nice to see all beach goers coexisting in harmony while fishing, swimming, surfing or just paddling around on the SUP.

NEW HAPPENINGS

The shop expansion is still a work in progress and those of you that have been in the shop recently have probably seen the 16’ board lying in the middle room. Along with the “F-16,” Sandwich Island Composites also sent us an “SRX4” and “KuNalu” model to showcase alongside our fine line of stand up paddle boards. Come take a look.

Speaking of the shop expansion, we will be closed from May 18th to the 27th. If you need anything from the shop the last day to stop by is this Saturday the 17th. Otherwise we’ll see you on Wednesday the 28th.

Firewire’s marketing manager was in town from San Diego and paid us a visit the other day. This past week was supposed to be a chance to ride some of their new carbon fiber direct drive boards. Unfortunately mother nature wasn’t cooperating and after much egging on, we took on the treacherous half a foot waves on the paddle boards. High tide and minimal swell aren’t exactly ideal, but our friend had fun and hopefully had a good enough time to possibly consider our request to make an SUP model. Just imagine that.

SUP Specials

I must say that more people than we anticipated have been taking advantage of our recent promotions on select models. Special pricing in is now available on the Olohe. The ladies have been loving this board for paddling around. Contact us for more details.

Board Of The Week

6’ 3” 18 3/4” 2 3/8” Firewire Direct Drive 2.0.

We got our first direct drive a couple of months ago which went straight to Daniel Jones to be put to the test. After getting the nod, we were really excited when we received another 5’ 11.” Not even a week later it was snatched up by some lucky kid from Kailua who probably thinks he has the best parents in the world. We’ll just have to wait and see how long this one lasts.

New Store Additions

High quality custom surfboards made in Hawaii are still our specialty and we continue to stock over 100 boards at a time. We recently received everything from hi-tech Pyzel shortboards with parabolic stringers to classy Rawson hybrids to a beautiful Kyle Bernhardt longboard with a balsa airbrush that makes you look twice. Come see our new additions.

Until Next Time

As of late we’ve been asked about calm alternative locations to paddle aside from the Ala Moana Beach Park area. It’s not our intention to send a group of people to any one particular spot, especially anyone’s local surf spot but there are other options. Moanalua bay is a great place to paddle and with the adjacent marina there are a number of runs to do. If wind isn’t your thing, go with a friend and park one of your vehicles at a park downwind from where you plan on launching from to avoid having to paddle upwind. Going solo? Have someone pick you up downwind or drop you off upwind. No wind? Why not check out the windward side and do some exploring. The options are endless, it just may take some searching and trial and error to find a run that suits your needs.

As always, feel free to email or call us with any further questions and or comments.

Aloha.
