(Jan 7, Encinitas Ca) Boardworks announced that Blane Chambers of Paddle Surf Hawaii has signed on to be the latest addition to the newly formed SUP division. “We are positioning ourselves to be the leader in the Stand Up Paddle industry, setting the standard for excellence in SUP equipment,” commented Mike Fox owner of Boardworks “We are putting together an awesome team and I am so stoked Blane Chambers is joining us. Blane and I have been North Shore friends for years and I have watched PSH become a very well respected and significant brand in the SUP community. Their energy, product and team all have great momentum. We are excited to bring our expertise to the effort, handling their molded board production and global distribution.” Boardworks will be introducing Paddle Surf Hawaii molded SUPs at Surf Expo, January 14-16 (booth # 223) with delivery scheduled for early Spring.

While Boardworks will handle the Paddle Surf Hawaii molded production board program, Jim Brewer, from OnBoard Watersports, will remain the US distributor for PSH wood veneer, custom boards and accessory products. “Between the two companies we will get the full PSH product array to the market,” commented Jim.

Blane Chambers stated, “I look Boardworks as a blessing. Such a great, cooperative team of people that are open minded to doing things better and better as they grow. We can now get our molded boards out to many more customers than we could previously reach on our own. This also allows me to focus on my custom boards so we can constantly push the envelope of performance.” Blane added, “The whole direction of PSH board design is to satisfy people and stoke them out on all levels: stability, gliding speed while paddling and awesome surfing performance. It doesn’t matter if the person is a beginner paddling flat water or a top professional surfing at the absolute highest levels in dangerous waves. I want that board to put a smile on their face every time they use it.”

Blane has built boards (and for many, still does) for these world class, top, respected surfers: Ikaika Kalama, Gerry Lopez, Tom Carroll, Slater Trout, Darrick Doerner, Ekolu Kalama, Titus Kinimaka, Leleo Kinimaka, Kainoa McGee, Aaron Napoleon, Jamie Sterling, Mark Healy, Shane Beschen, Ross Williams, Brock Little, Kala Alexander, Mel Pu’u, Ned Snow, Garrett McNamara, Kekoa Uemura, Makua Rothman, Kealii Mamala, Sunny Garcia, Megan Abubo, and many more. He has also built boards for many celebrities including Nia Peeples, (actress), Nicole Sherzinger(Pussy Cat Dolls), Helen Hunt (actress) and Mike Kroeger (Lead guitar Nickelback).

I wonder if the cost of PSH boards will rise from sub $1000 to over $1500 now that Board Works is producing them? PSH pricing structure has enabled hundreds of people entry into the sport who would otherwise not be able to afford to buy the equipment…
