The Poi Bowl…1st Leg of the Maui Jim Triple Crown of SUP

The Triple Crown consists of Three Events on Maui. The First Event is from Maliko Gulch to Kahului Harbor (9.54 miles). The Second Event goes from Maliko Gulch to Honolua Bay (21-miles). The Third and final Event of the series, paddlers traverse the Pai’lolo channel from Honolua Bay to Kaunakakai Harbor, Moloka’i (27-miles).

The 2011 Wet feet WPA National Race was a super fun event. I flew over to Oahu from Maui on Friday and the event was on Saturday. The WPA – World Paddle Association – has a series of qualifying events for the Hennessey’s World Event in San Diego in September. An event I definitely want to compete in.

Wow! It’s hard to put in words everything that happened at the 2011 Teva Mountain Games. As the cheif social media guru, I had a blast running around the event site to see our team riders race down Gore Creek, friends at CKS run the huge demo pool we had set-up and relay content to our partners at the Vail Valley Foundation.

Watermans Paddle for Humanity Deefield Beach.

Deerfield Beach, Florida - Over a hundred spectators and paddlers came out last Saturday for the Watermans Applied Science Paddle for Humanity in Deerfield Beach. The event was the second stop in the 2011 series which kicked off April 30th in Dana Point and will culminate in Washington DC on August 20th. Despite high winds and difficult conditions the event was an overwhelming success.

Planet Sun Heroes shine at IronMan 70.3 Hawaii

A great day in the “epicenter” of triathon for a number of Planet Sun multi-sport stars. Penn Henderson claimed high honors, placing 2nd in Age Group/ 14th overall with the 4th fastest bike time of the day amongst the pros! We are now just 3 days out from the start of the Sapinus Pro, presented by Air Tahiti Nui, tension is mounting as news of a large, long period south west swell is announced that will provide the kind of conditions that dreams are made of here at Sapinus in the beautiful region of Punaauia, Tahiti. This new swell is scheduled to hit on wednesday / Thursday of next week, at around 12 ft @ 19 seconds period: this means spectacular big surf for the assembled athletes and spectacular viewing for you the audience. What’s more, the swell direction anticipated is ideal for Sapinus and should provide even better conditions than we witnessed last year!!
