Better than SUP Surfing

Better than SUP Surfing

I think the best thing about my SUP is that I can share it with my family. I was at Kaimana Beach with my family and doing my best to get my oldest boy on my Blair stand up board. He paddled a bit and I also pushed him into small shore break waves. After that we ended up just hanging out, father and son on the board when I noticed someone taking some pictures of us.

Here’s a quick view of my C4 Waterman Vortice by Boardworks.  This video was done a while back.  I’ve been going through all the unfinished posts that I have and found a number of them that were never posted.  This is one of them.

Sam Pa’e 8-0 Stand Up Paddle Board

Sam Pa'e 8-0 Stand Up Paddle Board

Another stand up paddle board from Sam Pa’e. This one is an 8 footer and looks pretty cool. That colorful pad on top of the board is actually the same as those rubber pads you can buy at Home Depot. This board was much easier to stand on than his 7′10″. It’s also something like 34″ wide which makes it stable.

New Surftech Stand Up Video with Laird Hamilton, Jamie Mitchell and Friends

Surftech

I just got the press release for Surftech’s new stand up paddling instructional video and I immediately clicked on over to http://surftech.com/seasonal/l2sup.php to check it out.  This has got to be one of the best free videos I’ve seen so far.  I know it has a lot of Surftech promotion in it but it’s always nice to hear whatever Laird has to say.

This is definitely for the newbie beginner, especially the part where the guy shows what the deck, nose and tail of the board is.

Shirts by The Ryde

My wife got one of these surf inspired shirts and wanted to write about it so here it is:

I was so thrilled to receive The Ryde t-shirt in the mail! When opening the package and taking out the shirt I noticed immediately the quality of the shirt, the color was vibrant and the material was soft. I couldnʼt wait to put it on and feel it against my skin. Upon putting it on, I immediately noticed that the shirt fit perfect to size and the material was very soft and comfortable. Dylan and Morgan at Puena Point

Here’s a video of my cousin Dylan and his girlfriend Morgan trying out stand up paddle surfing for the first time at Puena Point. This is a while ago. I think this is the first time that Morgan has been on a surfboard. She’s from the ‘mainland’.

Buddy on a Surftech Blacktip

Here’s a short clip of my 5 year old son Buddy stand up paddling on a Surftech Blacktip. This is now his favorite board. I’ve been trying to get him on other boards for a while now but this one is like standing on land so he’s comfortable.

Werner Carve Stand Up (SUP) Paddle 2009

I saw the new Werner paddles yesterday on the way to doing a Hawaii Kai to Kaimana (9 mile) downwind run w/ Kainoa and decided to try it out.  This is my first real test of Werner SUP paddles.  I tried the Spanker version 1 a while back but since then I haven’t given it much thought.  I’m pretty familiar with their kayak paddles since I used a number of them when I used to ride my Hunt Johnson 9′ Pocket Rocket surf kayak.
