This is a session that I went to a while back with Kekoa at Puena Point. It’s supposed to be huge, about 12’-18’ Hawaiian scale but then it turned out to be 3’-5’ Hawaiian scale. I guess it picked up that afternoon but at that time that we were there, the conditions were really nice: […]

(Encinitas, CA December 21) Boardworks announces a new Paddle Sport Division. “Stand Up Paddling has been among the bright spots at retail in a very tough market,” said Boardworks’ Bob Rief. “Boardworks has “been there” since the beginning of the category with C4 Waterman, the “original SUP company” well known for its great products, world […]
I decided to take my son at Ala Moana Beach Park to just paddle around and get outdoors because I was indoor most of the day getting work done. I need to get out as I was getting cramped up feeling indoors.
Kainoa Beaupre sent over this video of him on his little mini SUP. At 200 lbs, I’d probably sink it to the ocean floor but Kainoa’s about the size of my 6 year old so it floats him just fine…just kidding. Check out the video. (click thumbnail to launch video)

In a follow-up post on the Manila SUP Stand Up Paddlers Help Flood Victims, I would like to commend the efforts of the Manila Surfers Association and Aloha Boardsports, for taking the initiative to brave the murky waters of Angono, Rizal, and help in the relief operations of people affected by typhoon “Ondoy” (Ketsana storm).
This looks like the North Shore of Hawaii but I’m not sure. I found this online video of Kelsey Grammar from Frasier on a SUP stand up paddle board. If the other lady is his wife, she sure looks a lot younger (and better shape) than he is.
Here’s a delayed update from the Duke’s OceanFest 2009 SUP Race held last August 23-29. I was pretty excited for this race and trained for it by paddling a few downwinders a week. Last year’s conditions provided winds that seemed under 10 mph and I wasn’t sure what the tide was. My time to finish […]
