Molokai To Oahu – Race Recap by Connor Baxter

2010-molokai-to-oahu-race-recap-by-connor-baxter-09

Molokai to Oahu – 32 mile Crossing across the Ka’iwi Channel. Before this race I felt so prepared because that week I ate super good, drank lots of water and rested. My mom and I went over to Molokai Friday night on the Ferry to Kaunakakai. Then headed over to the west side and stayed at the condos right where the event was. I slept in on Saturday and then went for a swim – I basically had a super relaxing day. Around 5:00 the race meeting started and then I had a huge dinner and went back to the room – and went right to bed to get a good night sleep. Race Recap – The 32nd annual Hui O He’e Nalu Independence Day Race

It was a beautiful day for Da Hui’s annual 4th of July race. Here’s a recap from Robert Stehlik from Blue Planet Surf.

da-hui-independence-day-race-2010-07

Going to the beautiful North Shore on Independence day for the Hui race has become somewhat of a tradition for our family. With clear water, blue skies and light tradewinds, the North Shore once again served up a beautiful day for the most popular paddleboard/ SUP race on Oahu (with the exception of this year’s Battle of the Paddle). The race results show a total of 478 finishers with of which 309 were stand up paddlers, an impressive turnout. The wind was very light in Honolulu but when we got closer to the start at Sunset beach, there were whitecaps and conditions looked good. The crew from Da Hui once again put together a great event.

C4 Waterman Ambassador/Rider racing 22 miles – flat water Oct 17 2009 for LIVESTRONG

This was sent to us via email by C4 Ambassador/Rider Chip Bock.

All,

Tomorrow is the 3rd Annual 22 mile Causeway 2 Causeway Challenge in Cocoa, FL. This is my 3rd year competing in the C2C and I won the overall SUP Div last year. It is a brutal race due to it being flat water (no following swell etc) and is one of the longest annual flat water paddleboard races in the US.

More importantly I do this race each year to raise funds and awareness for LIVESTRONG and the Lance Armstrong Foundation.

Zane Schweitzer at the 2009 Battle of the Paddle

Shawneen Schweitzer sent us this race recap of the 2009 Battle of the Paddle. Thanks Shaween!

Aloha;

Here is the report from the Battle of the Paddle. It was an incredible event, over three hundred competitors and lots of fun (and a bit of carnage). With what seemed like a thousand spectators on the beach, the SURF EXPO and the top SUP racers in the country here to compete in the 2009 Battle of the Paddle, you know it was a huge success.

“When someone told me there was a race event going on in Germany I was expecting some small fry event with a few people. I could not have been more wrong. Arriving at the event after driving across England, catching a ferry to France and then driving across France, Belgium, Holland and finally Germany I was blown away by the size of the thing. A tented event village with hotdog stands, mobile beer sellers and 20,000+ spectators this event was something else. The whole race area was wired for sound and a mix of pumping tunes and commentary boomed around this man made canal basin that had been turned into a SUP Stadium!
