RECAP BY CONNOR:

The 2014 Columbia Gorge Paddle Challenge was an epic event. It was an action-packed two day weekend with three races.

Day one started with the flat water technical course race. It was about 5 miles – 5 lap course with a lot of buoy turns. All the men competitors were on 14 foot race boards. I had my Starboard 14′ Allstar. Continue reading ‘Connor Wins Gorge Event – Clean Sweep!’

Recap by Connor Baxter

The 2014 Honolua Surf Co’s Ultimate SUP Showdown was by far one of the best organized events I have ever been to. First of all – Most all of the top surf and race competitors that were invited were at the event. The heats in both surf and race were on time. They stuck to the schedule. Then there is the fact that CBS Sports was there and is going to televise the event on Prime Time TV. Continue reading ‘CONNOR WINS THE ULTIMATE SUP SHOWDOWN’

CONNOR BAXTER WINS
THE MOLOKAI-2-OAHU WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
AND BREAKS HIS OWN WORLD RECORD

01-m2o-sports

The 2014 Molokai to Oahu was a great event. We went over to Molokai on our boat three days before the event. It was nice to just relax and take it all in before the grueling 32-mile channel crossing. The night before my mom made her traditional competition meal, I got a good night rest and was ready to go the next morning. We loaded the boat with our provisions and I got ready to go to the start line. I did a little warm-up paddle to make sure I was ready to go and then I lined up on the starting line after the prone paddlers left. Connor Baxter Soars to 3rd Olukai Ho’olaule’a Win

img_2073

The 2014 Olukai Ho’olaule’a was a great event. It might not be obvious to everyone there, but the Olukai team invests maybe as much time in doing a community service as it does on the race days. This year as they closed out their 6th annual Ho’olaule’a they shared a giveback day at Kaheawa Wind mills. More than 75 of the OluKai ‘Ohana planted 30 Koa trees. As the racers headed home, the Olukai ohana was hard at work. Mahalo, from one of the “Maui Boyz.” Continue reading ‘Connor Baxter Soars to 3rd Olukai Ho’olaule’a Win’

2013 Rainbow Sandals Battle of the Paddle – Recap by Connor Baxter

2013 RAINBOW SANDALS BATTLE OF THE PADDLE

01

Recap by Connor Baxter

The 2013 Battle of the Paddle – also known as the BOP was a fantastic and exciting event. Just like last year, they kicked it off with two morning heats to eliminate so many people in the finals. In each heat there were 60 plus people and they were taking half. So as I got ready for the first heat – I knew what I had to do. Since they were taking a lot of people I knew that I didn’t have to paddle my heart out – just as hard as I needed to, to make it through. ReCap by Connor

The 2013 San Francisco America’s Cup Open was a great event. It was held at Marina Green and the event site was called the America’s Cup Village. It was right where the 45’s were racing for the Youth Cup. The Golden Gate Bridge was only a couple miles away to the west. With the fog rolling in it was sometimes covered and not visible. There were loads of boats in the bay watching all the 45’s racing. Action packed weekend.
